How to get your confidence back when you’ve been through a rough spell

Life, much like a roller coaster. There are moments when we are feeling invincible. And then those when life only drags us down.
During those darker moments, our confidence tends to hit rock bottom. We doubt ourselves, our destructive little internal voice takes over and makes things worse. Gratitude disappears and our confidence crumbles. Especially in times of uncertainty we may feel stuck, unworthy, incapable to pivot and change something.

It has happened to all of us, so you are not alone. Challenging moments are moments of growth. You learn about yourself and how you can tackle and get out of situations that weigh heavy on you, you can learn how to step out of your comfort zone, and grow a positive mindset. You discover your weaknesses but at the same time your strengths. And our weaknesses.

Allow me to share some tips on building confidence…

Here is how we can get it back:

1. Face your fears

Fears hold us back or paralyze us. Understand where the fear the negative emotions are coming from and what it is about.

2. Switch off the little voice

Our little judgmental, critical voice of self doubt is speaking to you constantly. Thank it for trying to protect you and tell it to be quiet!

3. Keep taking risks

Step outside your Comfort Zone and dare to dream. Keep going. Never give up.

4. Celebrate your small and big victories every day

Recognize your wins and accomplishments as they breed confidence.

5. Do not hide your failures

Showing vulnerability can actually make you more authentic, influential and inspiring to others as they can identify with you. Nobody is perfect.

6. Stop comparing yourself to others

You have nothing to gain, but much to lose when you compare yourself: your pride, your dignity, your drive, and your passion.

7. Take your time to know yourself

Self-awareness is the key to Emotional Intelligence and to appreciate yourself and others.

8. Build a growth mindset

Implement a daily mindfulness practice. Your brain believes whatever you tell it repeatedly, then you feel confident again. Change your habits to healthier ones.

9. Build your skills

Be a lifelong learner and improve yourself. Practise and repetition is the mother of skill and ultimately of feeling more confident with your abilities.

10. Learn to love yourself

We only accept the love we think we deserve from others. So, start loving yourself. You deserve it and have so much to give.
